Looking at Videos!

 Looking at Videos!

With the recent great success of our video, "Let It Reign", we thought we'd take a look at a few of the other videos we have on "LivingWatersUtube". (CLICK!)

If you put them in order of popularity, the next most popular is our fun skit, "The Parable of the Talents", captured at a 2004 concert. Third most popular is, "Booze Blues Cruise", a song we never actually did in concert; it has just a few pictures used for the video, with emphasis on the music. We have several photo montages like "Do What He Tells You to Do", which comes in fourth. Our first photo montage, showing a rough history of the group, comes in at number five, and is appropriately backed with "Love's in a Name".

After that, it is worth noting several of these. Mary Gillis' loving tribute, "Lonely Dancer" is something VERY special to us. We have a lot of rough concert clips here, notably "Love in Arms" played just a few years ago. There are several photo productions that have gotten some attention, like Mike's "Take Me" and "Stay!" and the recent very successful song "Anna Post Writing" put to video. A couple of Mark's older songs, "This Loving Stream" and "Perfect Gift Song" were captured back on his wedding day. We did also put our first podcast out here.

There's so much we've managed to save, create or otherwise present to you. We invite you to join, peruse, and celebrate with JOY the Good God's goodness to our family!

Peace & Love & JOY,
Mark LaJOIE! for Living Waters!

In the last couple of weeks, several different songs by Living Waters have been accepted and are or will be featured on ReverbNation. One of them is "Love's in a Name" video. Just CLICK on the picture:

Another video is Mike's breakthrough song, "Take Me" under the Christian Rock category; CLICK on the picture again!:

We have also received word that "Light of the World DEMO" will be put on one of RN's "Chart-Topping Artist Playlist"s soon. Click on this to hear it!

ReverbNation recently communicated with me on a personal level about things on RN, and they have "curated" several of our songs. Things have not always been smooth, but, I must say, I am very glad Living Waters joined Reverb back in 2011! Please, enJOY!

Pictures R U, LW! Early 80's

Pictures R U, LW! Early 80's

Last time, we published an entry featuring pictures of us from the 70's. As promised, here are pictures from what was our most active touring decade, the 80's. In this episode, we will look, in particular, at the early 80's. As I noted before, this task of showing group pictures had already been done in a sense in the video for "Love's in a Name". That video is here:

As the 80's dawned, it seemed like the group was done for a short time, because we had left the retreat center where we were based. But, we discovered that Living Waters had its own wonderful, family identity quite separate from where we had been. We moved our equipment to St. Linus parish in Natick for a short time...and we came up with tshirts! At first we had a light blue version with a circular logo, I think, but soon settled for a dark blue with white letters. You can see the shirts here in a picture from a Christmas show in Woburn from 1980.

Top to bottom: Chuck R., Tom, Joyce, Suzanne, Jim G., Mike, Beth, Mike, Michelle, Dave, Kathy, Chuck T., Sharon, Omer, Tony, Denise, Greg, Mark

These pics show us practicing & posing in the basement at St. Linus:

We started touring SO much, mostly in Massachusetts, but also in the rest of New England and New York. We made trips to conferences across the Northeast in places like Hartford or Providence Civic Center. (We had previously done a couple of Steubenville Youth Conferences.) We were using the second version of our converted school bus, Betsy; we took out the back seats in order to carry tons of lighting and sound equipment. Here we are, performing right in front of the bus, at a common destination in Rhode Island:

At this point, I decided that we needed to find our own 'home base'. I noticed the Marists in Framingham had an abandoned house on 505 Pleasant Street, across from their place. I negotiated to get it and we got to work, renovating and making a home. Tony & Denise moved upstairs to the third floor and served as house parents. Pepi, Greg, John and I moved to the second floor, joined by various others as time went on. We parked Betsy, the bus, in the large area outside and put all our sound, lighting and recording equipment in the basement.

It was in this cellar that we recorded the Christmas album for which we took the following picture as a cover. (We were in front of Jim's house down the street, and it was actually warm!)

On rock: Mary Gillis, Mike & Carole; Back: Tony, Denise, Jim, Greg, Dave, Kathy, Mark, Joyce, Chuck

We were also doing a Themed Concert entitled, "The Prodigal Daughter". This was done in support of Covenant House in New York, the place for young victims of human trafficking. We made a couple trips and played there in the very early 80's, and continued to support them through PR and contributions.

In the mid 80's, we faced a major crisis when Mike decided to go off to college and leave the group. At first, it really affected the way we sounded, but eventually, through constant touring, we came up with a new sound without him, even while doing some of his songs. It was at this time that we recorded the "Basement Tape" of three songs that we were doing so much in concert: Nobody Else, It's Not the Same & There's a Woman. Here they are:

At some point in the late 80's, we moved most of our stuff to Fatima Shrine in Holliston in order to get a good practice space. In the late 80's and early 90's, there were even more changes coming. Stay tuned for the next installment!

NEW Video! "Love's in a Name": A 'Classic Tracks' Pic Montage

Ever since I made a separate "Classic Tracks" site, I've been wishing people could peruse these great old (ancient?!?) pictures of us, summing up our history and meaning, while they listened to a song that sums it up, too.  Well, I'm not as dumb as I am, and I finally figured out the PERfect solution would be to synch up a bunch of pictures summing up our history to a song that sums it up, too!  (I'll pause here for the applause and cheering.)  ANYway, I decided to use the "Stupeflix" program that YouTube provides.  (I believe their theory was to combine the words 'stupendous' and 'flicks', but all I could get was 'stupid flicks'.  Hey, it worked for Forrest Gump.)  This is a very simple version of those photograph montage programs that seems to work pretty well for our purposes.

My old song "Jesus" says, "there is a Name, there is a Face, there is a Heart which gives us God's grace" and in "I See His Face" it says "I see His Face, filled with grace overcoming".  With this in my mind, I decided to use "Love's in a Name" for several reasons.  We all came like wet baby birds fallen out of our nests, from a world where "no one knows what to do"; in those early days, our faith joined us in devotion, healing and loving actions; we saw and showed that Face of Mercy.  Plus, our love for each other and our charitable work resulted  in great joy and encouragement.  We all grew up spiritually and formed families and received special calls to serve.  "Oh, if we love, we sing a song, we sing a song, we are strong!"  Yeah, this song works perfectly as a way to be filled with gratitude, joy and praise.  We want to join that "great cloud of witnesses" we are joined to in heaven in finishing our race well as a faith family.  As it says in "Fight For Me", if we trust in Him, how can we lose?
